Charging the EV9

350-kW DC fast charger, 10-80% About 20 min About 24 min
Tesla Supercharger, 10-80% About 27 min About 34 min
11-kW Level 2 (home), 10-100% About 6 h 45 min About 8 h 45 min

Kia charge-time estimates under ideal conditions. Cold batteries charge more slowly.

  • Built-in NACS port: plug into Tesla Superchargers with Kia Charge Pass. You'll need a NACS-to-CCS adapter, sold separately, at CCS stations such as Electrify America.
  • 800-volt system: the EV9 can use 350-kW DC fast chargers.
  • Home charging: most owners charge overnight on a Level 2 charger. At Colorado's average residential rate, 12,000 miles in an AWD EV9 costs about $816 a year in electricity, versus about $2,490 in gas for a 20-mpg SUV.
  • A dual-level 120V/240V portable charging cable comes standard.

Colorado's average residential electricity price was 17.0 cents per kWh in July 2026 (U.S. EIA). Denver regular gas averaged $4.15 a gallon the week of October 12, 2026 (U.S. EIA). The EV9 AWD uses 40 kWh per 100 miles (EPA). Public fast charging costs more than charging at home.

The EV9 in Colorado

  • Pick AWD for winter: the Wind, Land and GT-Line have a heat pump, which uses less battery to heat the cabin. The two Light trims use a resistive heater, so they lose more range in the cold. Every EV loses some range in freezing weather.
  • Full power at altitude: electric motors don't need air, so the EV9 makes the same power in Summit County as it does in Denver.
  • Clearance and traction: AWD models have 7.8 in. of ground clearance and Terrain Mode with Snow, Mud and Sand settings. See every three-row AWD Kia.
  • Towing: up to 5,000 lbs on the Land and GT-Line. Towing cuts range sharply, so plan charging stops. Our Kia towing guide compares every model.

EV9 Tax Credits and Savings

  • No federal credit: the federal EV tax credit ended for vehicles acquired after Sept. 30, 2025.
  • Colorado: $750 state tax credit on any new EV9 you buy or lease (two-year minimum lease) and take delivery of by Dec. 31, 2026. Under Colorado's 2027 rules, EVs with an MSRP over $50,000 get no credit, which includes every EV9 trim. See our Colorado EV tax credit guide.
  • Built in Georgia: the EV9 is assembled in West Point, Georgia, so a new EV9 financed for personal use can qualify for the car loan interest deduction. Income limits apply.
  • Lower running costs: no oil changes, and regenerative braking eases wear on the brakes.

2026 Kia EV9: FAQ

How much does the 2026 Kia EV9 cost?

The 2026 EV9 starts at $54,900 MSRP for the Light RWD. The Light Long Range is $57,900, the Wind AWD $63,900, the Land AWD $68,900 and the GT-Line AWD $71,900. Add the $1,645 destination charge.

What is the Kia EV9's range?

EPA-estimated range is 230 miles for the Light, 305 miles for the Light Long Range, 283 miles for the Wind and Land and 280 miles for the GT-Line. Cold weather, highway speeds and towing reduce range.

Does the EV9 qualify for a tax credit in Colorado?

Yes, through 2026. Every EV9 qualifies for Colorado's $750 tax credit if you take delivery by Dec. 31, 2026. Starting Jan. 1, 2027, EVs with an MSRP over $50,000, including every EV9, don't qualify. The federal EV credit ended Sept. 30, 2025.

Can the Kia EV9 use Tesla Superchargers?

Yes. The 2026 EV9 has a built-in NACS port, so it plugs straight into Tesla Superchargers through Kia Charge Pass. Kia estimates 10 to 80% in about 34 minutes on a Supercharger for the 99.8-kWh trims.

How fast does the EV9 charge?

On a 350-kW DC fast charger, Kia estimates 10 to 80% in about 24 minutes for 99.8-kWh trims and about 20 minutes for the Light. On an 11-kW home charger, 10 to 100% takes about 8 hours 45 minutes for 99.8-kWh trims and about 6 hours 45 minutes for the Light.

How much can the Kia EV9 tow?

2,000 lbs for the Light trims, 3,500 lbs for the Wind and 5,000 lbs for the Land and GT-Line, with the right equipment. Towing reduces range.

How many seats does the EV9 have?

Six or seven. The Light, Light Long Range and Wind have a second-row bench for seven. The Land and GT-Line have captain's chairs for six, and the Light Long Range and Land can be ordered the other way.

Which EV9 is best for Colorado winters?

An AWD trim: the Wind, Land or GT-Line. They add dual-motor AWD, 7.8 inches of clearance and a heat pump that helps preserve range in the cold. The Light trims are rear-wheel drive without a heat pump.

Is there a 2027 Kia EV9?

Yes. 2027 EV9s are arriving at Emich Kia now, with more in stock soon. Kia hasn't published 2027 specs or pricing yet, so the prices, range and specs on this page are for the 2026 EV9. Ask us about 2027 models in stock or on the way.

Where is the Kia EV9 built?

In West Point, Georgia. Because it's assembled in the U.S., a new EV9 financed for personal use can qualify for the federal car loan interest deduction, subject to income limits.
