2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid in Denver: Price, MPG and Trims

The Short Version

• Five trims, six price points: EX (FWD or AWD), SX (FWD), X-Line SX, SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige, from $46,490 to $57,590.
• More power than the gas Telluride: 329 hp and 339 lb-ft versus 274 hp and 311 lb-ft.
• Fuel economy: up to 35 mpg combined and 637 miles of range on the EX FWD; 31 mpg and 564 miles with AWD.
• Seven seats on every trim with second-row captain's chairs. There is no eight-seat, LX, S or X-Pro hybrid.
• No plug needed. The battery charges itself from the engine and from braking.

Telluride Hybrid Price by Trim

Options worth knowing:

• Executive Package ($900, SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige): front Relaxation seats with power leg rests, power second-row seats with Relaxation Mode and heated outboard third-row seats. It is not offered on the gas Telluride.
• Towing Package ($625, all trims): needed for the 4,500-lb rating.

Telluride Hybrid MPG and Range

EPA estimates published by Kia; actual results vary. Range for EX FWD and AWD is Kia's figure; SX FWD and gas ranges are estimates from the EPA rating and fuel tank size (18.2 gal hybrid, 19.0 gal gas).

At 12,000 miles a year and $3.25 a gallon, a Telluride Hybrid AWD uses about $1,258 of fuel versus $1,950 for a gas Telluride AWD, a savings of about $690 a year. See the Telluride MPG guide for real-world Colorado tips.

How the Turbo-Hybrid Works

Most hybrids pair electric motors with a small non-turbo engine. Kia uses a turbocharged 2.5L, so the Telluride Hybrid makes more power than the gas model instead of less.

• Turbo engine plus electric power sends a combined 329 hp and 339 lb-ft through a 6-speed automatic.
• A 1.65-kWh lithium-ion battery stores energy recovered when you brake or coast, then helps the engine when you accelerate.
• Electric-only driving at low speeds keeps the engine off in stop-and-go traffic, where hybrids save the most fuel.
• Stay Mode runs the climate control and infotainment on battery power while parked, for up to about 20 minutes.
• A 115V outlet is standard on every hybrid trim, handy for laptops and camp gear.

Hybrid or Gas Telluride?

Pick the hybrid if most of your miles are in town or on I-25 and you want the extra power. Pick the gas model if you need eight seats, the X-Pro off-road trim or the full 5,000-lb towing rating. At about $880 a year in fuel savings (12,000 miles at Denver's $4.15 a gallon, October 2026), the $2,700 hybrid premium on the EX AWD pays back in about three years. Telluride Hybrid in Colorado

• AWD is a $2,000 option on the EX and standard on the X-Line SX, SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige. The SX is front-wheel drive only.
• Turbo plus electric torque helps on I-70 climbs, where non-turbo engines lose power to the altitude.
• Regenerative braking recovers energy on long descents from the Eisenhower Tunnel or Vail Pass that would otherwise heat the brakes.
• 7.4 inches of ground clearance handles snowy streets and maintained dirt roads. For rougher trailhead roads, the gas X-Pro has 9.1 inches.

Telluride Hybrid vs. Other Three-Row Hybrids

At 4,500 lbs, the Telluride Hybrid out-tows the Grand Highlander Hybrid, CX-90 PHEV and Sorento Hybrid, and its 329 hp beats the regular Grand Highlander Hybrid's 245 hp. The Toyota gets better AWD fuel economy, and the Mazda plug-in can run on electricity alone for short trips.
